Il fait partie d&rsquo;un complexe baroque (Fig. a), qui avec l&rsquo;\u00e9glise Sainte-Marie-de-l&rsquo;Itrie et le palais de la Chancellerie, caract\u00e9rise le \u00ab Quartiere degli Archi \u00bb, ainsi baptis\u00e9 en raison de l&rsquo;aqueduc qui acheminait l&rsquo;eau \u00e0 la ville antique.<br \/>Il est situ\u00e9 \u00e0 la confluence de deux grandes art\u00e8res : celle qui va vers San Rocco et la vall\u00e9e, et l&rsquo;autre qui va en direction de Ragusa Superiore (Fig. b).<br \/>Comme \u00e0 prot\u00e9ger les passants, une corni\u00e8re abrite la statue de saint Fran\u00e7ois de Paule, patron des p\u00e8lerins (Fig. c).<br \/>Le palais s&rsquo;\u00e9l\u00e8ve sur deux \u00e9tages et se distingue par ses consoles sculpt\u00e9es d\u00e9cor\u00e9es de grotesques.<br \/>Le balcon qui donne sur l&rsquo;escalier, dit \u00ab balcon de la m\u00e9disance \u00bb, est entour\u00e9 de deux hauts pilastres coiff\u00e9s d&rsquo;un chapiteau (Fig. d) et soutenu par cinq consoles en pierre sculpt\u00e9e de diff\u00e9rents d\u00e9cors illustrant la vie de mani\u00e8re sarcastique. Le visage de la deuxi\u00e8me console repr\u00e9sente un homme au grand nez et aux yeux band\u00e9s, tandis qu&rsquo;un scorpion repr\u00e9sentant la m\u00e9disance sort de sa bouche. Les visages des cinq consoles supportent autant de figures f\u00e9minines, chacune ayant un sens all\u00e9gorique, comme par exemple une femme tenant un enfant dans ses bras, en symbole de la fertilit\u00e9 (Fig. e).<br \/>De m\u00eame, les balcons de la fa\u00e7ade lat\u00e9rale sur Corso Mazzini sont caract\u00e9ris\u00e9s par des balustrades en <em>poitrine d&rsquo;oie<\/em> et pr\u00e9sentent des consoles sculpt\u00e9es de figures all\u00e9goriques de la vie.<br \/><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00c0 l&rsquo;int\u00e9rieur, certains pavements sont tout \u00e0 fait remarquables : un pavement d&rsquo;une superbe facture entrem\u00eale la pierre pece \u00e0 la pierre blanche, un autre est incrust\u00e9 de pierre pece et de pierre blanche et orn\u00e9 de rosettes
