class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p dir=\"ltr\">Le palais Bertini fut construit par la famille Floridia \u00e0 la fin du XVIIIe s., puis rachet\u00e9 par la famille Bertini (Fig. a).<br \/>La grande hauteur du portail de l&rsquo;\u00e9difice attire le regard, ainsi que l&rsquo;aspect des corni\u00e8res qui semblent inachev\u00e9es et dont les bases d\u00e9marrent \u00e0 un niveau diff\u00e9rent par rapport \u00e0 la rue suite \u00e0 l&rsquo;abaissement successif du niveau de la chauss\u00e9e (Fig. b).<br \/>Le portail est surmont\u00e9 d&rsquo;un magnifique balcon de forme curviligne, tandis que trois balconnets \u00ab \u00e0 la romaine \u00bb sont plac\u00e9s sur le c\u00f4t\u00e9 (Fig. c).<br \/> Les clefs de vo\u00fbte des arcs des trois balcons sont sculpt\u00e9es \u00e0 mascaron, et repr\u00e9sentent des personnages de la culture populaire de l\u2019\u00e9poque : le <em>pitocco<\/em>,&nbsp;le pauvre au faci\u00e8s d\u00e9form\u00e9 et \u00e0 la bouche \u00e9dent\u00e9e (Fig. le noble, au regard aust\u00e8re et imbu de soi (Fig. e), et le riche, un joufflu marchand oriental (Fig. f).&nbsp;<span style=\"font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight ); text-align: var(--text-align);\">Ces mascarons sont l&rsquo;interpr\u00e9tation des \u00ab trois puissants \u00bb : le pauvre, insoucieux de tout parce qu&rsquo;il n&rsquo;a rien \u00e0 perdre, le noble, qui sait que son pouvoir va au-del\u00e0 des lois, et le marchand, qui peut tout
